Would you like to know where your beef comes from? Consumers are more than ever conscious about what is in the food they eat. Our product is the result of over 20 years breeding Australia’s own breed the Murray Grey.
For over one hundred years this breed has been an important part of the Australian cattle industry and is known for its meat quality, docile temperament and calving ease. Through generations it has been a consistent winner of carcase competitions throughout the country where its attributes have been judged over and over again and found proven for eating quality.
First bred in the upper Murray region in Victoria the breed has established itself firmly as a breed for Australian conditions, this is because they are highly efficient eaters and convert what they eat into high quality muscle which is the meat we eat. They are proven performers living on a continent which throws up many challengers – a land of droughts and flooding rains.
In 2010 we commenced breeding a cross bred animal for the domestic market. Up till then our focus had been on export markets where the Murray Grey high marbled meat is a favourite. The domestic market prefers a little less fat in the product and so we have successfully developed a product which uses Charolaise genetics as well to obtain the desired eating quality.
The final product is now a 50/50 blend of Murray Grey and Charolaise breeds which has been overwhelmingly accepted by our customers and butcher shops that we supply.
